Dental Health

Did you know about 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of dental disease by the age of two?

We take dental health seriously at Heathmont Animal Hospital, and a dental check is always part of your pets annual visit as tooth, gum pain and dental disease can be as severe in pets as it is in humans, but often goes unnoticed as most pets will continue to eat throughout. Unchecked, it can lead to infection that has been linked with the development of kidney and heart valve disease.

We believe prevention is the best medicine, however we are well equipped to treat dental disease when it arises.

Dental Health

The most common presenting complaint from owners is bad breath, or “doggy breath”, which indicates that there are bacteria, and possibly infection, present. Regular check ups with your vet can help to recognise dental disease early, allowing  for intervention and treatment.

We have all the equipment and expertise necessary to perform standard dental procedures such as teeth scaling and polishing, as well as full mouth dental radiography and tooth extractions.
